Voice input change?

Hi. I would like to communicate in game without having to type, but the only microphone I have is the mic in my webcam. In Modern Warfail 2 when I try to talk everyone hear sounds from my computer (if they say something they hear themselves). Is it possible, and if it is, how to change microphone input?

Re: Voice input change?

first of all sry i cant help u a lot :P
but, i would recommend to get yourself a headset. i doesnt have to be very expensive (15-25€ is enough) because:
1. the mic of webcams are rly rly rly crap
2. u heare a lot more with a headset (i assume u are using speakers)
then, the mic of your webcam is only active when u are using the webcam: while calling someone in skype etc.
and i dont think its possible to change the mic input.
im not quite sure but isnt it true that the webcam only got a usb plug? and no TRS connector

I've got a Creative HS-450 headset but there's something wrong with my Realtek HD sound card >.>... Sound works but mic do not. Gotta reinstall the drivers and try to experiment with it.

Re: Voice input change?

What do you mean by microphone input? Microphones will record sound from around them. If you are playing a game on your speakers, it will pick up the sound from that. You would have to speak louder than the speakers.

And I mute anyone who talks using a microphone in this game :P

Re: Voice input change?

Damn, you guys don't understand me. I need to change the input that MW2 takes my voice from. I don't have TRS connector..

It's like I have 2 mics and one does not work, MW2 tries to take voice from the broken mic.

Ahh, Realtek is a bitch. If there is a panel labelled "microphone", turn on the third thing, then press "calibrate" and do that shit. I guess.

You mean the game is using the stereo mix as your recording source and you want to use your microphone?

That is easy to fix and depends on your OS.

Windows Vista/7 should have roughly the same steps (this is per Windows 7):

1) Open the Start menu
2) In the search box thing, type in "Manage Audio Devices"
3) In the window that pops up, click "Recording" at the top
4) Select your microphone and click "Set Default"
- If your microphone does not appear, right click and check "Show Disabled Devices". If it still doesn't appear, you probably can't set the device as a primary recording device.

For Windows XP, it should be the same basic steps. Look for your Audio Devices Manager, find the Recording Device, and change it to your microphone
